A handy way to spend abroad. Travel FX cards are great because you can have all of your currency loaded onto a small card which can be easily carried around anywhere. You can benefit from excellent exchange rates and enjoy wide acceptance.
The key to remember is this: Travel FX cards are not credit or debit cards. In fact, they are far superior to using a credit or debit card abroad, because the exchange rates are excellent and there are no huge ATM or purchase fees. Are there any disadvantages to FX cards? There could be a disadvantage to using an FX card if you go to a country where plastic is useless.
For instance, you may be going to a little-known village in the mountains of Peru a plastic card may not be the best way to go about buying local souvenirs or food. That is why it is always a good idea to carry some cash with you wherever you go.
A wise idea is to make sure you are familiar with money system of the country you are visiting. Check if they have plenty of ATMs and if they take MasterCard® or Visa® - if they are a cash-only economy then stick to regular travel money.
